If new land is to be wooded the main method used is the planting of young trees, these 2-year-old plants have a good survival rate (90%).
Meticulous handling of these plants is essential; rough treatment, desiccation, over heating or frost damage all contribute to failure. This is a problem we take very seriously and so we only use one specialist supplier that we work with very closely, all materials can be traced from the nursery field to the woodland.
We appreciate that this is the most costly period of operations, but cost cutting now (cheaper quotations) will only store long term problems. Paying a little more, for top quality trees will ensure a lower mortality rate and a higher growth rate.
